Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, whom he described as an unpretentious federalist dedicated to serving God, his country, and humanity.

In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, @PNMbah, on Tuesday, Mbah noted that Chief Edwin Clark fulfilled his role as the nation’s conscience, a voice of reason, a social crusader, and a champion of equity, justice, and genuine federalism.

“I was taken aback by the news of the passing of this revered statesman, Chief Edwin Clark. He was a figure whose stance on any national issue was always clear and unwavering.

“He was a courageous leader who, in addition to being bold and vocal, remained principled in his advocacy.

“He served as the conscience of the nation, a voice of reason, a social crusader, and a true champion of equity and justice.

“He fought tirelessly for democracy, good governance, and fiscal federalism until his final moments.

“This is a profound loss, not only to his immediate family, Delta State, and the Niger Delta, but to the nation as a whole,” he said.

The governor offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late icon’s soul.
