A captivating video has surfaced featuring Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, joyfully celebrating the recent Supreme Court rulings concerning Rivers State.
On Friday, the Supreme Court issued a decisive order to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Accountant General of the Federation to cease all financial allocations to the Rivers State government.
The apex court ruled that this decision would remain in effect until Governor Sim Fubara halts his illegal and unconstitutional activities. The court mandated that funds will not be disbursed to Fubara’s government until a lawful Appropriation Law is established by the House of Assembly, now under the stewardship of Wike’s loyalist, Martin Amaewhule.
In a judgement delivered by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, the Supreme Court further directed the 27 members of the Rivers House of Assembly, led by Amaewhule, to resume their duties immediately.
In a unanimous ruling from a five-justice panel headed by Justice Musa Uwani Aba-Aji, the court strongly asserted that it was an aberration for Fubara to function with only 4 out of the 32 assembly members.
Additionally, the apex court nullified the local government election held in Rivers State on October 5, 2024, deeming it null, void, invalid, and illegal.
In the wake of these developments, Wike’s spokesman, Lere Olayinka, shared a video capturing his principal alongside former Enugu State governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, both singing and praising God.
In the video posted on X, Wike can be heard joyfully proclaiming, “I never knew he would honour me this way…”
