Hon. Gabriel Ogbara, the Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, was involved in a public brawl yesterday with a supporter of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
A viral video captured Ogbara in a chaotic fight with several Ward Coordinators of The NEW Associates, a political group affiliated with the FCT Minister Wike within the Bayelsa State chapter.
The NEW Associates, which stands for Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, is a political organisation that consists of supporters of Wike.
Reports indicate that one of the coordinators from The NEW Associates who was assaulted by Ogbara had become influential enough to make the Assembly Chief Whip feel threatened.
“Gabriel Ogbara is obviously being pained that he is being run out of relevance in his community following the popularity and wide acceptability of The NEW Associates philosophy in the community, and his only response was to go physical,” commented a supporter of the FCT Minister.
The supporter further remarked, “We never even start and them don dey show physical frustration. The love for Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at the grassroots across Bayelsa State no be here. Saturday, 26th April 2025 is a reality.”
