The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has approved the formation of Vetting Teams to expedite the regularisation of land allocations across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Chijioke Nwankwoeze, the FCT Director of Land Administration, announced this during the inauguration of the Vetting Teams in his office.

The Director emphasised that the Minister authorised the formation of these Vetting Teams with “clear directives, mandates and terms of reference” to ensure that all processes are completed within a reasonable timeframe.

He noted that the Vetting Teams are tasked with addressing the longstanding issues surrounding the titling of Mass Housing plots. Nwankwoeze stated, “With this approach, all subscribers of unit houses in the Mass Housing Programmes will be captured and be given titles for their individual housing units.”

Furthermore, he highlighted that the government has implemented measures to resolve all outstanding issues affecting the regularisation of plot allocations in the Area Councils and the titling of houses delivered in all Mass Housing programmes.

The Director remarked that the establishment of these Teams will enhance the integrity of land administration and restore public confidence in the management of land assets within the Territory. He affirmed that the Minister possesses the “political will” to see this initiative through to a successful conclusion.

Nwankwoeze characterised the Vetting Teams as a “bold and irreversible step” towards reinstating order and public trust in the FCT’s land system.

He urged developers and prospective titleholders to cooperate, assuring them that the FCT administration is dedicated to providing effective service to all developers, titleholders, and potential titleholders, in alignment with the principles and aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
