Honourable Paul Sunday Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in the 10th House of Representatives, has honoured his commitment to enhance community safety by initiating the deployment of high-density solar-powered street lights in Ikem Nkwo.
This marks the commencement of a comprehensive rollout of street lighting across various communities in the Isi Uzo Local Government Area.
This initiative, which began in Enugu East Local Government Area in 2024, is aimed at bolstering efforts against insecurity in the state.
According to Nnamchi, it is intended to complement the measures implemented by the Chief Security Officer of Enugu State, Barrister Peter Mbah, to secure the state and attract foreign investments.
The lawmaker expressed his deep concern regarding recent banditry attacks, particularly those perpetrated by herdsmen in some communities within Isi Uzo and Enugu East Local Government Areas.
He believes that the installation of high-density street lights will play a crucial role in addressing these security challenges.
Nnamchi stated, “I am prioritising border and farming communities in Isi Uzo, to help mitigate the growing concerns in the area which has affected the residents and restricted farming activities.”
He noted that areas such as Ikem, Eha-Amufu in Isi Uzo, which borders Enugu and Benue State, along with Ugwogo-Nike in Enugu East, have been particularly vulnerable to such attacks due to their strategic locations.
