United States President Donald Trump has shared an AI-generated image of himself adorned in papal regalia.
The image, which was posted on Truth Social, depicts President Trump dressed in white, complete with a papal mitre and a prominent crucifix hanging around his neck, just 11 days after the passing of Pope Francis.
The White House account also shared the image on its official X (formerly Twitter) page.
In a recent interview, when asked about his preferences for a successor to Pope Francis, Trump remarked humorously, “I’d like to be Pope. That would be my number one choice.” He added that although he did not have a specific preference for the position, he acknowledged a cardinal from New York who is “very good”.
Furthermore, he stated, “I must say, we have a cardinal that happens to be out of a place called New York who’s very good, so we’ll see what happens.”
The conclave to elect a new pontiff has commenced following the death of Pope Francis, who passed away on Easter Monday at the age of 88 due to a stroke and heart failure.
