The lawyer killed in Nanka, Orumba North LGA of Anambra state has been identified as Barrister Ifeanyi Iloakasia, popularly known as Bar Rolex.
He was a former President-General of Aguleri Town Union.
According to police reports, Bar Rolex was attacked and killed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen on a motorcycle shortly after leaving the Ekwulobia High Court on Thursday. The assailants reportedly trailed and ambushed him and his companions after the court session, in what is suspected to be a targeted hit.
A second victim was also confirmed dead, while another individual survived the attack and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital. The survivor has reportedly provided critical information that is aiding the police investigation.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, who visited the crime scene along with senior officers and detectives, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident. “We are deploying tactical and intelligence teams to track down those behind this heinous crime,” the CP stated.
A red Toyota Camry, believed to belong to the deceased lawyer, was recovered from the scene.
The police have assured the public that every effort will be made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
