A resident of Suleja, Niger State, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has raised alarm over the alleged use of his wife’s photograph in media reports linking her to a recently arrested bandit leader’s spouse in Saudi Arabia.

This follows widespread reports in both traditional and online media that the wife of notorious bandit commander, Ado Aliero, was arrested alongside his mother in the Muslim holy city of Madina during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.

However, in a dramatic twist, Abdullahi rushed to the Suleja Police Area Command to file a formal complaint after discovering that his wife’s image had been circulated online and falsely identified as that of the arrested woman.

Abdullahi expressed shock and confusion over the situation, saying he saw his wife’s picture in a viral TikTok video.

“I couldn’t understand how a photo that I snapped with my phone and later shared with my wife got to the public domain, as she doesn’t use any social media platform, apart from WhatsApp,” he lamented.

He said the false identification had left him deeply unsettled, fearing that members of the public might resort to jungle justice against his wife based on mistaken identity.

“I have been devastated since I noticed the mix-up, for fear of jungle justice against my wife by people who could mistake her as the arrested person,” he added, explaining why he swiftly reported the matter to the police.

Confirming the incident, Suleja Police Area Commander, ACP Muhammad Sani Musa, said the man had indeed approached the police with the complaint.
