As Abia State marks the second anniversary of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti’s administration, a wave of commendation continues to pour in from citizens and stakeholders alike, applauding the visible transformation under his stewardship. Among those who have joined in the celebrations is Dr. Laz Ude Eze, a member of the 2023 Abia Transition Council, who described Otti’s leadership as a “model of good governance” and praised the governor’s unwavering commitment to his campaign promises.

In a congratulatory message titled “Celebrate 2 Years Anniversary of Chioma Abia,” Dr. Ude Eze lauded Governor Otti for ushering in what he described as “good news galore and projects overload across all developmental sectors in Abia State.”

“The state has become a construction site with massive construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads, retrofitting of public schools, and other critical infrastructure,” he noted. “Backlogs of salaries and pension arrears have been cleared; civil servants and pensioners deservedly received their monthly pay in a timely manner. New staff are being hired and promotions done strictly on merit.”

Particularly noteworthy, according to Dr. Ude Eze, is the governor’s revitalization of the health sector, beginning with the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH). “I am particularly impressed that you are keeping the promises you made to ndi Abia towards making the hospitals work,” he said. “You started with the restoration of medical care, research, and teaching services at ABSUTH.”

He further highlighted ongoing efforts to upgrade healthcare delivery in the state, including the retrofitting of approximately 200 primary healthcare facilities and the planned recruitment of 771 new health workers. “The reconstruction of Amachara Specialist Hospital Umuahia has commenced,” he said. “More so, health insurance coverage has been expanded in the formal sector, while the Abia Medical City project will soon commence.”

Reflecting on the 2023 Abia Transition Council report submitted shortly before Governor Otti’s inauguration, Dr. Ude Eze expressed satisfaction that the recommendations are being faithfully implemented. “When we submitted the Abia Transition report in 2023 on the eve of your inauguration, you promised to implement it. I have observed your projects closely, and I can affirm that you have kept your words,” he said. “I can’t be more proud of what Abia State is becoming under your sterling leadership.”

The statement concluded with heartfelt congratulations and hope for continued progress in Abia State: “Cheers to many more years of good governance and fulfilment of promises to the good people of Abia State! Congratulations, Chioma Abia!”

Dr. Laz Ude Eze, also known as Ozoigbo Ndu 1, continues to play an active role in the development of Abia State through his contributions and advocacy for good governance.
