In a bold step to spotlight innovation in Nigeria’s Southeast, Enugu State has been selected to host the regional pitch event of the GITEX Nigeria 2025 Supernova Challenge, giving local startups a chance to compete for national recognition and a share of a $50,000 prize pool.
The regional showcase, set to take place on July 15, 2025, will see 15 of the most promising startups from coal city State selected to advance to the national finals in Lagos this September. The challenge is part of the GITEX Nigeria Regional Roadshow — Nigeria’s premier tech innovation and startup pitch competition.
Organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in partnership with the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI), the Supernova Challenge is a highlight of GITEX Nigeria 2025, one of Africa’s largest innovation expos.
A Launchpad to the National Stage
According to the organizers, startups selected from the State event will have the opportunity to:
- Pitch before a national audience of investors, accelerators, and innovation leaders
- Represent Enugu at the Supernova national finals in Lagos from September 3–4, 2025
- Join over 1,000 curated startups and 100+ global investors at GITEX Nigeria
- Compete for a share of the $50,000 prize pool
Eligibility and How to Apply
To qualify for the challenge, startups must:
- Be based in or operate out of Enugu State
- Have a working minimum viable product (MVP) or functional solution
- Be prepared to pitch live in Enugu and attend the Lagos finals if selected
