Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has condemned in strong terms the brutal murder of 13 Ebonyi indigenes in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, describing the incident as barbaric and a desecration of Igbo land.
Reacting to the tragedy, the President General of the apex Igbo organisation, Senator Azuta Mbata, in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, expressed deep sorrow over what he called an “unprovoked and senseless” attack that has shaken the Igbo nation and all right-thinking members of society.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo sees this unprovoked killing as callous, barbaric, ungodly, and an abomination which amounts to the desecration of our land,” Senator Mbata stated.
He called on the Anambra State Government and security agencies, especially the police, to immediately launch a comprehensive manhunt to identify and prosecute those behind the heinous crime. “We urge the police and other security agencies to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators of this gruesome crime to justice,” he declared.
Senator Mbata also extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to the bereaved families, Governor Francis Nwifuru, and the entire people of Ebonyi State. He described the killings as not just a tragedy for the families affected but “a deep wound to the collective soul of the Igbo people.”
