The Federal University of Kashere (FUK) has conferred an honorary doctorate degree onFederal University of Kashere Celebrates Orji Kalu’s National Impact Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in recognition of his outstanding contributions to national development, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and steadfast dedication to Nigeria’s unity.

Speaking during the conferment ceremony on Saturday at the university’s campus in Gombe State, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Umar A. Pate, described Senator Kalu as a towering figure in Nigeria’s political and economic spheres.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is a two-time Governor of Abia State and now a distinguished lawmaker in the National Assembly. He has over the years demonstrated exceptional capacity in leadership and service to humanity. His trajectory from business to politics, and his sustained influence in both spheres, make him a fitting recipient of this prestigious award,” Professor Pate stated.

Highlighting Kalu’s entrepreneurial achievements, Professor Pate noted that his success as a media mogul has significantly shaped Nigeria’s communication and media landscape. He also praised Kalu’s far-reaching philanthropic initiatives, which, he said, have touched countless lives across regions and promoted inclusiveness, national integration, and development.

“Our decision to honour Senator Kalu was not arbitrary. It is a recognition of years of dedicated service, enterprise, generosity, and statesmanship,” he added, emphasizing that the university’s Governing Council carefully selected its honourees based on merit and tangible societal impact.

The honorary doctorate was among the highlights of the university’s third combined convocation ceremony, which drew dignitaries from across the country. Professor Pate reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to celebrating excellence and inspiring younger generations.

“We use moments like this to inspire our students and the youth to emulate distinguished Nigerians who exemplify hard work, innovation, and patriotism,” he said.

Senator Kalu joins Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, and Kole Ahmed Shettima as prominent Nigerians honoured by the university for their service to the nation and humanity.
