Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adelabu announced his ambition during meetings with APC leaders and stakeholders in the Ogbomoso and Oyo zones of the state as part of his statewide consultations.
The minister assured party members that no aspirant would be imposed in 2027 and expressed confidence in his ability to compete fairly and emerge victorious.
“I’m up to the task. I want to show them that I can withstand and survive competition and come out victorious,” he said.
Adelabu sought the support of stakeholders, appealing for unity and reconciliation within the party.
“I plead for forgiveness from aggrieved members. We should be concerned about how the party will come back to power in 2027,” he urged.
In Ogbomoso, Adelabu described the area as a key player in the state’s political landscape and expressed satisfaction with the unity now prevailing among APC factions in the zone.
The minister also called for support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, emphasizing that a renewed mandate for the president would bring greater dividends of democracy to the country.
In Oyo town, Adelabu pledged inclusive governance if elected governor.
“I will run an all-inclusive government where everybody will be involved in the governance of the state and no one will be left behind if I become governor of the state in 2027.
“I’m here for people to know that no one can impose anybody. I want to work and prove to our party members that I’m up to the task. I want to show them that I can withstand and survive competition and come out victorious.”
Adelabu described Oyo as significant to his political journey.
“Oyo is like a second home to me. My supporters, followers, associates, and allies are all here. They have been supporting me in the past and they are ready to support me again.
“I will give what is due to Oyo. Oyo zone deserves better treatment because it is symbolic. Oyo is historical, symbolic, and a blessing to the entire state.”
