Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has suspended 25 commissioners and 62 other senior government officials, including permanent secretaries, for failing to attend a crucial state function attended by the governor.
The suspension was announced on Monday in a public service statement issued by Mr. Monday Uzor, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
According to the announcement, the affected officials have been placed on a one-month working suspension without salary for what was described as an act of negligence and insubordination.
“The Governor also directed that the affected officers should not sign any official document within the period of their suspension while Commissioners should hand over to their respective permanent Secretaries,” the statement read.
“The suspension takes immediate effect,” it added.
