The Enugu State Government has opened up new job opportunities in the fashion industry, offering residents the chance to get trained and employed in different roles within the sector.
In a statement, the Special Adviser to the Governor on MSMEs and Director General of the Enugu SME Centre, Arinze Chilo-Offiah, said the initiative is designed to boost youth employment while positioning Enugu as a hub for creativity and production.
“This is more than a job; it’s a chance to build a career in Nigeria’s booming fashion industry,” Chilo-Offiah explained. “What if your next paycheck came from making something the world wears — proudly stamped ‘Made in Enugu’? No experience? No problem. You’ll be trained.”
The programme, which will be held in Enugu, provides opportunities across multiple roles, including:
- Pattern Making
- Cutting
- Quality Control
- Sewing Machine Operation
- Pressing, Ironing & Packaging
- Administrative Support
- Accounts/Inventory Management
- Production Supervision
According to Chilo-Offiah, the project is part of Governor Peter Mbah’s broader vision to create jobs, support entrepreneurship, and encourage locally made products.
“Enugu has the talent. What we are doing is giving our young people the platform, the training, and the tools to succeed in an industry with global demand,” he said.
