Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development and President of Masters Group, Dr. Uche Ogah, CON, stunned a massive crowd in Nkerefi town on Sunday, September 28, 2025, when he announced full academic scholarships for eight indigent children in the community.
The announcement came during the Nkerefi Economic Summit 2025, an event organized by one of the most populous towns in Enugu State, made up of four large autonomous communities.
According to Dr. Ogah, the education of the beneficiaries will be fully covered from primary school through university under the sponsorship of the Uche Ogah Foundation.
In his remarks, the philanthropist praised the ingenuity of Nkerefi’s illustrious son, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, popularly known as Odoziobodo, who served as Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and spearheaded the high-powered summit.
Dr. Ogah described Ani and his team as “awesome” in organizing such a historic event, which, he said, succeeded in bringing together an unprecedented crowd in love and unity.
In addition to the scholarships, Dr. Ogah also donated ₦5 million to the Nkerefi Project, emphasizing that the town is “more or less his second home.”
This humanitarian gesture adds to the long list of educational and youth empowerment interventions already being carried out by the Uche Ogah Foundation.
Responding on behalf of the people, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Ogah for his benevolence and compassion.
Ani said: “On behalf of the good people of Nkerefi, we sincerely appreciate Dr. Uche Ogah for such a tremendous show of compassion to our people and to society at large.”
