Hon Ofor Chukwuegbo

A major political shift has hit Enugu State as Rt. Hon. (Prince) Ofor Gregory Chukwuegbo, a former member of the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter dated October 13, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 02 Chairman, Amechi-Uwani, Enugu South Local Government Area, Chukwuegbo stated that his decision was the result of deep reflection and dissatisfaction with the current state of the party.

“I hereby resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), effective this 13th day of October, 2025,” he wrote.

Explaining his reasons, he said, “I came to this well considered decision having regard to the persisting parlous state of affairs in the party, a situation that has negated its capacity to remain a platform of choice, and one where members can genuinely pursue and realize noble political aspirations.”

Chukwuegbo emphasized the need to associate with a political platform that aligns with his vision for development and progress.

“It is important that I seek a new forum that aligns with my desire to continually be in position to influence matters to bring about progress and development to my community and nation at large,” he stated.

The former federal lawmaker did not mince words about the PDP’s dwindling relevance in his political journey.

“As at today, and as things stand, PDP has ceased to be in position to offer me this opportunity,” he declared.

He concluded by announcing his defection to the APC, saying, “I have joined and pledged my loyalty to The All Progressive Congress, (APC).”

Chukwuegbo’s resignation is expected to send strong ripples across the political landscape in Enugu State, where the PDP has traditionally maintained a dominant presence.
