Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., the 15-year-old son of football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, made headlines on Saturday after scoring his first international goal in Portugal’s 3–0 triumph over Wales at the ongoing Football Federations Cup.
The young forward opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a cool, clinical finish from close range — a goal that marked his growing confidence and composure on the international stage. It was only his second appearance for Portugal’s U16 team, following his debut against Turkey earlier in the week.
The match, played at the Portuguese Football Federation’s training center in Lisbon, was attended by his grandmother, Dolores Aveiro, who watched proudly as the teenager displayed flashes of the same attacking instinct and technical flair that defined his father’s early career.
Ronaldo Jr.’s strike set the tone for a dominant Portuguese performance. Rafael Cabral doubled the lead in the 65th minute before sealing the victory with a stoppage-time goal in the 91st minute.
With this result, Portugal U16s secured their second consecutive win, having earlier defeated Turkey 2–0 in their opening match — a fixture in which Ronaldo Jr. impressed with his creativity and work rate.
The young forward’s breakthrough goal has further fueled excitement about his potential, as fans and scouts alike begin to wonder whether another Ronaldo era is on the horizon for Portuguese football.
