The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally flagged off its electronic registration exercise in Enugu East Senatorial Zone, with the launch taking place at Akwugo Ward 2 in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The exercise was inaugurated in the hometown of the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. Chukwuma Ogbodo, marking a strategic start to the party’s membership expansion and data-driven mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections.

Speaking during the flag-off, the Zonal Coordinator of the APC E-Registration for Enugu East Senatorial Zone and Enugu State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP), Uche Kelvin Edeh, described the exercise as critical to strengthening the party at the grassroots and positioning it for electoral success.

“This e-registration exercise is not just about numbers; it is about building a credible, verifiable, and people-driven party structure from the ward level upward,” Edeh said.

According to him, the success of the registration process would play a vital role in consolidating support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and boosting the party’s chances in the next general elections.

“A strong, digitally verifiable party register is fundamental to winning elections. The success of this exercise will directly impact our mobilisation capacity for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the consolidation of progressive governance at both national and state levels,” he stated.

Edeh added that sustained grassroots engagement remains key to expanding APC’s footprint in Enugu State and ensuring effective participation in democratic processes.

As part of activities in the local government, Edeh paid a courtesy visit to the Nkanu West Council Secretariat, where he held a strategic meeting with the council chairman, deputy chairman, leader of the legislative arm, secretary to the local government, supervisors overseeing the e-registration exercise, and ward agents.

He noted that collaboration with local government leadership and ward officials was essential to the smooth execution of the exercise.

“The local government remains the heartbeat of political mobilisation. When our ward agents and council officials work in synergy, the process becomes transparent, efficient, and people-centred,” he said.

To support the smooth operation of the exercise, Edeh donated a laptop computer to the local government, describing it as part of efforts to eliminate operational bottlenecks and ensure real-time data capture.

“This donation is to ensure that technical limitations do not hinder the success of the e-registration exercise. Technology must work for the people and for the party,” he explained.

He further stressed that a successful registration exercise would strengthen the party’s capacity to support Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s re-election bid by aligning grassroots mobilisation with national progressive ideals.

“When party structures are strong at the ward level, governance becomes easier. This exercise will deepen political participation and create the momentum required to support progressive leadership, including the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Tinubu,” Edeh added.
