President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his participation, alongside key ministers, in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026).

A statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that Nigeria leveraged the summit to deepen international economic ties, culminating in the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the sidelines of the event.

According to the statement, the CEPA is designed to strengthen economic cooperation between both countries by boosting bilateral trade and investment, promoting technology transfer, and expanding collaboration across strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining, and renewable energy.

Addressing participants at the summit, President Tinubu announced plans to host a joint Nigeria–UAE INVESTOPIA in Lagos in February, describing the initiative as a platform aimed at attracting global investors and unlocking new opportunities for economic growth.

The President also told the gathering that Nigeria is targeting the mobilisation of up to $30 billion annually in climate and green industrial finance, as the country accelerates its energy transition reforms and expands access to electricity nationwide.

He said the ambition reflects Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development, cleaner energy, and long-term economic resilience as it positions itself as a leading destination for green investment in Africa.
