The Enugu State Government has launched a new digital empowerment initiative for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as part of efforts to deepen the state’s innovation-driven economy under Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The programme, known as the Digital Skilling Mentorship Program for MSMEs (DSMP–MSME), is being implemented through the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (Enugu SME Center) in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

In a statement issued by the Enugu SME Center, the agency said the initiative aligns with Governor Mbah’s vision of building a digitally enabled economy where MSMEs can grow, compete, and scale sustainably.

“Under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Enugu State Government continues to advance a digitally driven, innovation-led economy that enables MSMEs to grow, compete, and scale sustainably,” the agency stated.

According to the statement, the DSMP–MSME is designed to equip MSMEs across the state with practical digital skills, structured mentorship, and the capacity to leverage technology for improved productivity, market access, and business growth, in line with Nigeria’s national digital transformation agenda.

The agency explained that participating MSMEs will benefit from hands-on digital and technology-enabled business skills, one-on-one and group mentorship sessions with industry experts, improved online visibility, wider market access, and tailored support aligned with the country’s digital economy priorities.

“This initiative reflects His Excellency’s commitment to strengthening MSMEs as engines of job creation, innovation, and economic prosperity across all the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State,” the Enugu SME Center added.

The agency encouraged eligible MSMEs in the state to take advantage of the opportunity by applying for the programme, noting that registration is currently open via its official portal.
