Obollo Afor Ward in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State came alive on Wednesday as residents staged a massive rally in support of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, unanimously endorsing him for a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement, described as a historic show of grassroots unity, took place in Iheakpu Obollo, where fathers, mothers, youths, elders, and community stakeholders gathered in large numbers to declare their continued support for the governor’s administration.
Speaking on behalf of the ward, the Convener and Councillor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Odo, said the people of Obollo Afor rose with one voice to appreciate what he described as Governor Mbah’s visible developmental impact in the community.
“Something beautiful happened in Iheakpu Obollo. Our people—fathers, mothers, youths and elders—rose as one. History was made as Ndi Obollo Afor Ward spoke with a single voice and unanimously endorsed His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for a second term,” Odo said.
He described the atmosphere at the rally as electric, noting that residents from every polling unit turned out massively, transforming the event into what he called “a carnival of solidarity.”
“The air was thick with songs, chants, and tears of gratitude. One after another, speakers stood to give heartfelt testimonies of how Governor Mbah’s touch has reached us here,” he stated.
According to him, the people highlighted key projects executed by the governor in the area, including the Smart Green School, the Type 2 Primary Health Centre, improved roads, water access, and other infrastructure seen as life-changing interventions.
“We spoke about the Smart Green School that is now redefining the future of our children. We spoke about the Type 2 Primary Health Centre that is saving lives in our community every single day. We spoke about roads, water, and other life-changing projects that tell us one truth: Our Governor has remembered us,” he said.
Odo added that in appreciation of the governor’s performance, the community resolved to fully mobilise for his re-election and ensure total victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ward.
“And because he remembered us, we made a vow. In a rare show of unity, villagers drawn from every polling unit volunteered as foot soldiers for 2027.
“Our promise was thunderous and clear: we will go door-to-door for Governor Mbah and all APC candidates, and not one vote will be lost to the opposition in Obollo Afor,” he declared.
The event also witnessed the defection of notable grassroots mobilisers from opposition parties into the APC, a development Odo said further demonstrated that good governance transcends political affiliations.
“The day became even more significant when notable grassroots mobilizers from the opposition stepped forward, formally decamped to the APC, and pledged to join us in this journey.
“Their decision reminded us that good governance wins hearts beyond party lines,” he added.
With chants, drumming, and raised hands, the ward sealed its endorsement with a strong declaration in support of the governor.
“With drums rolling, hands raised, and voices roaring, Obollo Afor Ward sealed it: Peter Ndubuisi Mbah nwere 4 more years.
“This is personal for us. This is our story. This is our thank you,” Odo said.
