Speaking after his re-election, Chief Afam Ani expressed gratitude to God and party members for the renewed confidence placed in him, describing the development as a major step forward for the party.

I’ll uphold the trust they have placed in me by electing me as chairman and to ensure that the party continues to move forward according to its vision. We must carry everyone along and ensure that APP grows from strength to strength,” he said.

He said he was deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in him by party members and pledged to justify their support with stronger leadership and strategic expansion.

Chief Afam declared that the APP is no longer interested in remaining a fringe political force in the state, insisting that the party is now fully prepared to compete for major elective positions in Enugu.

“We are no longer going to remain on the sidelines. This time around, we are serious, and we have capable aspirants who are already coming into the party to seek one position or the other,” he stated.

He revealed that the party’s ambition is to win the Enugu State governorship seat, all three senatorial districts, the eight House of Representatives seats, and as many House of Assembly positions as possible.

“We want to win the governorship of Enugu State, the three senatorial seats, the eight House of Representatives seats, and as many House of Assembly seats as possible. I am here to provide that push and ensure the party achieves these goals,” he said.

The chairman also outlined plans to strengthen the party’s membership drive, noting that the turnout at the congress reflected growing public interest in APP across the state.

“What I intend to do differently is to strengthen our membership drive. If all our members had come here today, we would not have had enough space to accommodate everyone. We had to manage the turnout because of the crowd,” he said.

He explained that the party would continue to sensitise members and the public about APP’s manifesto, constitution, and political vision as part of efforts to win future elections.

“We will continue with our membership drive and keep sensitising both our members and the public about APP, what the party stands for, our manifesto, and our constitution, all geared towards winning elections,” he stated.

Chief Afam also disclosed that several aspirants are already indicating interest in joining the party, particularly from Enugu East Senatorial Zone, while others are coming from Nsukka and Enugu North Senatorial Zone.

“There are already many aspirants showing interest in joining the party, although I would not like to mention names now since they are not yet official candidates. I can confirm that many of them are from Enugu East Senatorial Zone, while some are also from Nsukka and Enugu North Senatorial Zone,” he said.

He urged party members to remain committed and steadfast, assuring them that loyalty and hard work would be rewarded.

“My advice to our party members is to remain steadfast and continue working for the party because, ultimately, they will reap the rewards of their commitment and loyalty,” he said.

On preparations for the local government elections, Chief Afam confirmed that the APP would fully participate, adding that the party had already concluded its primaries and produced candidates.

“Yes, our party will participate fully in the local government election. We already have our candidates and we have successfully conducted our primaries,” he said.
