Former Secretary of Enugu Central Development Centre and Chief Executive Officer of Patinze Company Ltd, Hon. Okechukwu Onunze, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Enugu State House of Assembly seat for Enugu North Constituency, seeking the support of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Onunze made the declaration on Saturday during the local government party meeting of the APC in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State, where he outlined his vision for quality representation and grassroots-driven leadership.
The former local government official said his ambition is driven by a strong desire to serve the people and to partner with Governor Peter Mbah in advancing development across the state.
According to him, Governor Mbah’s leadership style has inspired many people to become part of governance that delivers real impact and creates better opportunities for future generations.
He said the governor has redefined leadership in Enugu State in a way that motivates people to contribute meaningfully to public service and community development.
Onunze expressed confidence that if given the party’s ticket, he possesses the leadership qualities needed to mobilize support across Enugu North Constituency and secure victory for the APC at the polls.
“I am stepping forward with a clear vision to serve my people with honesty, openness, and dedication. My aim is to build trust, encourage development, and ensure that every voice in Enugu North is heard, respected, and represented effectively in the House of Assembly,” he said.
The APC aspirant, who also served as Supervisor for Health in Enugu North Local Government Area, promised to deliver quality representation anchored on integrity, accountability, accessibility, and people-centered service.
He assured constituents that if elected, his representation would bring meaningful development and direct benefits to the people of Enugu North.
Onunze also commended the Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, describing him as a strong grassroots representative of Governor Mbah and a committed leader whose efforts continue to strengthen governance at the local level.
He equally praised the APC Chairman in Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Ernest Onuoha, for what he described as his dedication and leadership in building and sustaining the party’s structure in the area.
Calling for unity ahead of future elections, Onunze urged party members and stakeholders to remain focused, strengthen internal cooperation, and support credible candidates capable of delivering victory for the APC.
He also stressed the need for peaceful political engagement and collective commitment to ensuring the party’s success across the constituency.
