A member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Harrison Ogara, has formally resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing internal crises and legal battles within the party.
In a resignation letter dated May 5, 2026, and addressed to the ADC Chairman of Unadu Ward in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, Ogara said his decision was driven by the instability rocking the party.
“I hereby write to officially inform you that henceforth I have resigned my membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” he stated.
The lawmaker representing Igbo Eze South constituency explained that persistent litigations and internal discord had crippled the party’s ability to function effectively.
“This action is sequel to the plethora of litigations and disharmony in the party which have made it almost impossible for any political progress to take place,” he said.
He, however, expressed appreciation to the party leadership for the opportunity to serve.
“I therefore, wish to use this medium to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve your party,” Ogara added.
Sources within his political camp indicate that the lawmaker is set to align with Peter Gregory Obi under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), as part of a broader political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development adds to the growing wave of defections from the ADC, amid ongoing leadership disputes and court cases, with key figures repositioning across emerging political platforms.
