Socialite and political figure, Cubana Chief Priest (Pascal Okechukwu), has lost the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State.

Okechukwu, who had publicly pledged support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and promised to mobilise votes from the South-East, was defeated in the party primary by the incumbent lawmaker, Canice Moore Nwachukwu, who is currently serving his second term in the National Assembly.

The primary contest, which determined the APC’s candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections, ended with Nwachukwu retaining the party’s ticket for the constituency.

Cubana Chief Priest had been visibly active within APC political circles in recent months, particularly through his association with the City Boy Movement, a youth-oriented support group backing President Tinubu’s re-election bid. He was also appointed as Imo State Director of the group, where he publicly pledged to mobilise electoral support for the ruling party across the region.

Despite that political engagement, he failed to secure the party’s nomination for the federal legislative seat.

The outcome underscores the competitive nature of the APC primaries in Imo State, where sitting lawmakers largely retained their positions against challengers in the party’s internal contests.
