Governor Alex Otti is set to commission and flag off a fresh round of major road projects across Aba North, Aba South and Osisioma Local Government Areas as part of his administration’s ongoing infrastructure renewal and urban transformation drive in Abia State.
The projects, scheduled for inauguration on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, are expected to improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges, boost commercial activities and accelerate the economic revival of Aba and surrounding communities.
The state government said the initiative reflects Governor Otti’s commitment to building “a modern, accessible and economically vibrant Aba.”
According to the schedule released by the government, several completed roads will be commissioned, while new strategic projects will also be flagged off across key residential and commercial hubs.
Among the projects lined up for commissioning are Adelu Road, Geometric Road, Afule Road and Assemblies of God Church Road in Osisioma, as well as Sacred Heart Street, Elizabeth Avenue, Nigerian Brewery Road, Etche Road and Mosque Road within Aba metropolis.
The governor is also expected to flag off the construction of the 7-UP–Umuchichi Link Road and the first phase of the Aba Ring Road stretching from Umuaduru to Okpulo Umuobo in Osisioma.
Other roads captured in the exercise include Aro Amano–Eke Aro Road, Nwogu Ajagba Street, Nwala Street and Crystal Park Road.
The government described the projects as part of a broader infrastructural revolution aimed at restoring Aba’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading commercial cities.
“The projects reflect the administration’s determination to sustain the ongoing urban renewal drive and restore Aba’s status as a leading commercial destination in Nigeria,” the statement said.
According to the government, the road interventions are expected to open up previously neglected areas, stimulate trade and investment, improve mobility and support economic growth across the state.
“The transformation is visible. The promise is becoming reality. Aba is rising once again under a government committed to excellence, accountability and sustainable development,” the statement added.
Residents, business owners, community leaders, stakeholders and party supporters were encouraged to participate in the commissioning and flag-off ceremonies scheduled to begin at 12 noon.
