The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven suspects, including two soldiers and three police officers, over their alleged involvement in a violent robbery syndicate linked to multiple attacks across Accra, Tema, Anyinam, Kumasi and Takoradi.
The arrests, according to a statement issued on Tuesday via the Police Service’s official social media platforms, were carried out by the Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police.
The case began after an Ivorian investor, Mousa Bamba, reported that he was lured to the Dzorwulu area in Accra under the guise of purchasing six kilograms of gold valued at US$450,000.
Bamba alleged that upon arrival, the suspects posed as officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and military personnel before robbing him at gunpoint and escaping with his valuables.
Following his complaint, investigators initially arrested two suspects identified as Mohammed Umaro (alias Alhaji) and Gabriel Sewornu (alias Dangote).
Further intelligence-led operations later implicated additional suspects, including two soldiers — Lance Corporal Eugene Akurugu and Lance Corporal Emmanuel Arko (also known as Bullet) — as well as three police officers: Inspector Richmond Osei, Corporal Gideon Anor, and Lance Corporal Felix Deku Tetteyga.
The Police Service confirmed that the implicated officers have been interdicted to allow for full disciplinary and criminal investigations.
Subsequent operations between May 23 and May 24, 2026, led to the arrest of additional suspects identified as Justin Oduro (also known as Don King and Mafia), Clement Gyasi, and Farouk Zakari.
“All suspects are currently in Police custody assisting investigations, while efforts continue to arrest other accomplices connected to the syndicate,” the Ghana Police Service said.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to dismantle the wider network believed to be responsible for coordinated armed robberies across major cities in Ghana.
