Former Kano State Governor and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed a viral social media message alleging that he and his political allies are planning a protest over rising insecurity in the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, Kwankwaso described the message as false and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard what he termed deliberate disinformation being circulated online.

According to him, neither he nor his associates are involved in any plan that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.

“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property. As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges,” he stated.

Kwankwaso emphasized that he remains committed to democratic processes and believes that meaningful change can only be achieved through legitimate electoral participation rather than street protests.

“As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the NDC would achieve electoral success in the forthcoming general elections through peaceful democratic engagement.

“Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” Kwankwaso added.

The former governor also urged Nigerians to ignore the circulating message, warning against individuals he accused of spreading falsehoods capable of undermining public peace and national stability.

“The general public is therefore advised to disregard the false message and ignore those peddling such disinformation,” he stated.

The clarification comes amid heightened political tension and growing concerns over insecurity across parts of the country, which have recently triggered online debates and misinformation on social media platforms.
