The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed criminal charges against the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, over allegations of terrorism financing and money laundering involving $2.53 million.

According to a statement issued by the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency filed a 12-count charge before a Federal High Court in Abuja on June 22, 2026, accusing Bodejo of receiving and possessing funds suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.

The EFCC alleged that the Miyetti Allah leader received several cash payments in foreign currency amounting to $2.53 million from a former Accountant-General of Bauchi State, Sa’idu Abubakar, in transactions that allegedly violated Nigeria’s anti-money laundering laws.

The Commission claimed that the funds were received in cash, with individual transactions reportedly ranging from $100,000 to $980,000, rather than through financial institutions as required by law.

According to the charges, some of the money is believed to be linked to unlawful activities, forming the basis of the terrorism financing and money laundering allegations brought against him.

Bodejo is expected to be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja in the coming days, where he will take his plea to the charges.

The EFCC said the alleged offences are punishable under the provisions of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011, and the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

“The Commission filed a 12-count charge against Bodejo on June 22, 2026, accusing him of receiving and possessing large sums of foreign currency allegedly linked to proceeds of unlawful activities,” Oyewale stated.

The anti-corruption agency added that further legal proceedings would commence once a date is fixed for the arraignment.

The case is expected to attract significant public attention given Bodejo’s position as leader of one of Nigeria’s most prominent cattle breeders’ associations and the gravity of the allegations levelled against him.
