Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially joined the United States Army, announcing the milestone after successfully completing one of the military’s rigorous training programmes and graduating as a Specialist.
Momodu shared the news in a post on his official Instagram page on Friday, revealing that he underwent 10 weeks of intensive Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, before earning his place in the US Army.
The actor described the achievement as the product of resilience, discipline and unwavering determination, saying he has always believed in earning success through hard work.
“From inception, I have always believed in achievements earned through merit, which is why I constantly push myself beyond limits,” he wrote.
Recounting his experience during the demanding military training, Momodu said the journey tested him physically, mentally and emotionally.
According to him, the programme was marked by “tears, fear of failure, resilience, endless days, short nights, fatigue, rain, and the scorching sun.”
He admitted that there were moments when the pressure made him question his decision to enlist, but said his determination to succeed kept him going.
“There were moments of doubt and times I questioned myself, ‘who send me message sef’? But I never lost sight of the finish line,” he said.
Momodu explained that the training fundamentally changed him, describing it as an experience that transformed him from a civilian into a soldier.
“We trained tirelessly, were broken down and rebuilt. I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” he wrote, adding that the experience taught him to “find comfort in discomfort.”
The actor said his enlistment carries deep personal significance because it honours the memory of his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force.
“On April 12, 2026, I honored my late father in a historic way. Twenty years after his passing, I picked up the baton where he left off in the Nigerian Police Force and carried it forward by getting enlisted into the United States Army,” he stated.
Momodu disclosed that he now serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He dedicated the achievement to God, the memory of his late father and the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II of the Avyuele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The actor also expressed gratitude to the US Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for facilitating his enlistment, while thanking his associate, Akeem Ogara, for managing his social media platforms throughout the period of his military training.
