Chief Executive Officer of First Choice Afro Villa Ltd and Mburubu Construction Company Ltd, Chief Dr. Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, has applauded Governor Peter Mbah’s aggressive infrastructure drive, saying the administration has transformed transportation in Enugu State by reducing travel time between Enugu metropolis and Mburubu from about three hours to just 20 minutes.
Speaking with journalists in Enugu on Sunday, Onuokaibe described the feat as one of the clearest examples of the impact of the governor’s ongoing road revolution, insisting that the visible transformation across communities had earned Mbah overwhelming grassroots support ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
According to him, the administration’s investments in modern road networks, Smart Green Schools, Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres and other critical infrastructure have changed the lives of residents across the state.
He said Mburubu community in Nkanu East Local Government Area has witnessed unprecedented development under the present administration, noting that its Smart Green School, Type-2 hospital and road projects are now over 97 per cent completed.
Onuokaibe stressed that improved road infrastructure has dramatically enhanced accessibility to the community, opening it up for economic activities and making movement faster and easier for residents and visitors alike.
“This is not about politics but about what people can see and feel. Roads are open, schools are standing, and hospitals are coming alive. Our people now move freely without fear or delay. These are things we have talked about for years but never experienced. Today, we are seeing them happen in real time, and that is why the support for the Governor is growing across constituencies.
“Take, for instance, my area, Mburubu. We are experiencing ongoing road construction with quality drainage, a Smart School and a Type-2 hospital, among others. All these projects are over 97 per cent completed.
“The road has made my area more accessible and visible to all. What normally takes three hours’ drive from Enugu now takes about 20 minutes. Isn’t that incredible? What can someone call government presence more than that? It is why Mburubu people are happy with him and giving him massive support, which will reflect in their votes next year. No single vote from Mburubu will be found wanting,” he said.
The businessman maintained that the growing support for Governor Mbah was rooted in performance rather than political rhetoric, arguing that residents across the state were responding to projects they could physically see and benefit from.
He also dismissed criticisms from opposition figures, describing them as desperate attempts to distract the public from the administration’s achievements.
“They expected people to react to their claims that are full of lies, but that has not happened. The people are focused on what is on ground. When you see roads, security, schools, and hospitals, it is hard to be distracted by noise. That is why their efforts are not gaining support among the electorate,” Onuokaibe stated.
Commenting on Governor Mbah’s decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), Onuokaibe said the move was in the best interest of Enugu State, arguing that it had strengthened political stability and accelerated development.
He rejected claims that governance had slowed since the governor’s political realignment, insisting that projects were progressing steadily across the state.
“People who say things have gone down are not being fair to what is happening. You can travel across the state and see projects at different stages. The government is working, and the impact is clear in many areas. Change will always come with different opinions, but what matters is the result. For us at the grassroots, we are seeing progress, and that is what should guide public discussion, not fear or wrong impressions,” he added.
Onuokaibe urged residents to continue supporting Governor Mbah’s administration, expressing confidence that the ongoing transformation of Enugu State would further accelerate economic growth, improve living standards and position the state as a leading destination for investment and development.
