Enugu

The Enugu State Government has awarded scholarships to 760 students and public school teachers under its 2025/2026 Local Scholarship Scheme, in what it described as another major investment in education and human capital development across the state.

Announcing the development on Monday, the Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, Chukwuemeka Mbah, said the beneficiaries comprise 500 undergraduate students, 100 postgraduate students, and more than 160 public school teachers drawn from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state and various academic disciplines.

Mbah said the scholarship programme fulfils Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s commitment to ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent qualified residents from accessing quality education.

According to him, the inclusion of public school teachers is intended to strengthen the capacity of educators and support the effective implementation of the state’s experiential learning model in schools.

He disclosed that successful applicants who participated in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) are currently being notified through text messages and email on a local government-by-local government basis for verification and documentation.

Mbah explained that the verification exercise for undergraduate and postgraduate beneficiaries would commence immediately, while that of the teachers would begin subsequently.

Describing the scholarship scheme as a strategic investment in the future of the state, the Board reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and developing the skilled workforce needed to drive Enugu’s growth.

Indeed, Our Tomorrow Is Here!” the Board stated.
