A leading South-West women advocacy group, Yoruba Women in Politics (YWIP), has commended the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye, for what it described as his outstanding role in strengthening the ruling party across Southern Nigeria and promoting internal democracy.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Akure by the group’s Chairperson, Mrs. Dorothy Akinyele, who praised Nwoye’s leadership, loyalty and commitment to expanding the APC’s influence in the South-West, South-East and South-South.

According to Akinyele, Nwoye has distinguished himself through fairness, integrity and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy.

“Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye is a very honest and open person. He has done considerably well,” the group stated.

YWIP said the APC chieftain has demonstrated commendable democratic values, contributing significantly to the party’s electoral successes across Southern Nigeria.

The group also applauded him for what it described as his impartial leadership style, noting that he has remained fair to party members while maintaining independence and neutrality in the discharge of his responsibilities.

The statement read: “We are delighted and satisfied with the high degree of determination so far exhibited by Nwoye in applying the principle of fair play in treating all party members and asserting independence and neutrality in most cases.”

The women further credited Nwoye with consolidating the APC’s grassroots structures across the three southern geopolitical zones while creating opportunities for greater participation by women and young people.

They noted that his leadership has helped position the party for future electoral victories and fostered a more inclusive political environment.

YWIP also praised the APC deputy national chairman for mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s expected 2027 re-election bid, while preserving the progressive ideals upon which the ruling party was founded.

“Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye is level-headed, has the milk of human kindness flowing in his veins and is committed to the success of President Tinubu and the party in 2027 and beyond,” the group said.

The women described Nwoye as “an influential exponent of national unity,” commending his efforts in ensuring a smooth internal democratic process within the APC in Enugu State.

They expressed confidence that his leadership would continue to strengthen the party’s cohesion and enhance its electoral fortunes across the country.
