Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has congratulated the 2026 Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate and former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON, on the occasion of his 65th birthday, describing him as an outstanding son of Alaigbo whose life has been defined by integrity, discipline and selfless public service.
In a goodwill message issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, on behalf of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta Mbata, the Global Executive Committee and Ndigbo across the world, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation commended Obi’s contributions to national development and his enduring commitment to humanity.
According to the statement, Obi’s 65th birthday provides an opportunity to celebrate a remarkable life dedicated to enterprise, prudent leadership and service to society.
“This milestone offers an opportunity to acknowledge a life distinguished by diligence, discipline, enterprise, and enduring commitment to public service,” Chukwu said.
He noted that Obi had earned widespread respect through his commitment to accountability, philanthropy and the pursuit of the common good.
“Over the years, you have earned the respect of many through your dedication to prudent leadership, integrity, philanthropy, and the pursuit of the common good. Your personal example continues to inspire many, especially the younger generation, to embrace excellence, hard work, accountability, and selfless service to society,” he stated.
Ohanaeze further praised Obi for projecting the values associated with the Igbo nation, including industry, resilience, innovation and integrity.
“As a proud son of Alaigbo, your accomplishments have contributed to the positive projection of the values for which the Igbo nation is renowned—industry, resilience, innovation, integrity, and an unwavering belief in the dignity of every human person.
“We celebrate your contributions to national development and your steadfast commitment to peace, unity, and the advancement of humanity,” the statement added.
The organisation also prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the former Anambra governor, wishing him good health, wisdom and greater opportunities to serve humanity.
