Residents and businesses served by the Gariki Injection Substation in Enugu have begun enjoying normal electricity supply again after MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) successfully restored power following the repair of a major technical fault.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the company’s Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, announced that electricity supply was restored at about 8:30 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, after engineers resolved a fault involving the indoor 11kV breaker at the Gariki Injection Substation.
According to Ezeh, the technical fault, which occurred on Friday, July 17, 2026, disrupted electricity supply to customers connected to the Army and Gariki 11kV feeders.
He confirmed that the repairs have now been completed and normal electricity supply has been fully restored to all affected communities.
“MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) wishes to inform its esteemed customers that power supply to the Gariki Injection Substation was successfully restored on Monday, 20th July, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m., following the successful resolution of a major fault involving the indoor 11kV breaker at the station,” Ezeh stated.
The company expressed appreciation to customers for their patience and cooperation during the outage.
“Consequently, normal electricity supply has now been restored to all affected areas. We sincerely appreciate our esteemed customers for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the outage,” he said.
Reaffirming the company’s commitment to improving electricity service delivery, Ezeh assured customers that MEDL would continue to prioritize reliable and safe power distribution.
