The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye, has urged party leaders and members in Anambra State to close ranks and speak with one voice, warning that internal divisions could undermine the party’s chances in future elections, including the 2027 general election.
Nwoye gave the charge on Thursday during a stakeholders’ engagement on the lingering leadership crisis in the Anambra State chapter of the APC, held in Abuja.
The meeting, convened by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), brought together members of the APC Fact-Finding and Reconciliation Committee, including the National Legal Adviser, Deputy National Secretary, National Secretary for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and other senior party officials.
Also in attendance were the Deputy National Organising Secretary, Emeka Nwafor; the APC’s governorship candidate in the last Anambra election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu; former state chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike; Uju Ohanaenye, Senator Anosike, Ifeanyichukwu, and other key stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Nwoye said the engagement was aimed at identifying the root causes of the crisis within the state chapter, reconciling aggrieved members and charting a path towards lasting peace and electoral success.
He identified the alleged removal of elected party officials, candidate substitution, expulsion of members without fair hearing and the growing resort to litigation before exhausting the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms as some of the major issues fueling the internal crisis.
According to him, party unity remains indispensable for electoral victory.
“A party that speaks in different voices cannot effectively mobilise voters, defend its candidates or inspire public confidence. To win elections, we must speak with one voice,” Nwoye said.
He stressed that reconciliation should not be viewed as a sign of weakness but as a strategic imperative for any political party seeking to win elections.
The APC national officer warned that every moment spent on internal wrangling was time taken away from grassroots mobilisation and voter engagement, cautioning that a divided party would struggle to maximise its electoral prospects in Anambra and the 2027 general election.
Nwoye called on party leaders, aspirants and members to embrace dialogue, forgiveness and teamwork, insisting that no single faction could deliver victory on its own.
He disclosed that the reconciliation committee would recommend measures to restore confidence among party members, strengthen internal dispute resolution mechanisms, ensure fairness in party administration and rebuild the APC’s structures across Anambra State.
While reaffirming the national leadership’s commitment to resolving the crisis, Nwoye warned that the party would not hesitate to discipline members whose actions threaten its unity and stability.
The stakeholders’ engagement forms part of the APC’s ongoing efforts to reconcile aggrieved members, strengthen internal cohesion and reposition the party ahead of future electoral contests in Anambra State and the 2027 general election.
