The Enugu State Government has announced the temporary partial closure of a section of Ogui Road adjoining the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Main Bowl to facilitate the ongoing remodeling and rehabilitation of the facility.
The road closure, which takes effect from Monday, August 3, will be implemented intermittently as construction progresses and whenever project activities require restricted access to ensure the safe execution of the works.
The development was disclosed in a public announcement issued by the Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Ngozi MaryAnn Ngene.
According to the ministry, the temporary traffic restriction is aimed at protecting motorists, pedestrians, construction workers and the surrounding environment throughout the duration of the project.
“The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure hereby notifies the general public that a section of Ogui Road bordering the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Main Bowl will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from Monday, 3rd August as part of the ongoing Remodeling and Rehabilitation Works.
“The road will be closed intermittently as the work progresses and whenever construction activities require such temporary closure to ensure the safe execution of the project.”
The ministry advised motorists and other road users to cooperate with traffic officials by observing all diversion routes and safety measures put in place around the construction site.
“By this notice, motorists and other road users are advised to exercise caution, comply with all traffic diversion measures, obey road signs, and cooperate fully with traffic management personnel and other authorised officials at the project site.”
While apologising for the inconvenience the temporary traffic arrangement may cause, the state government appealed for public understanding, assuring residents that the project forms part of its commitment to delivering modern and durable infrastructure across Enugu State.
“The Government regrets any inconvenience this temporary traffic arrangement may cause and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the public as it continues to provide quality infrastructure for the benefit of the people of Enugu State,” the statement added.
