Amazon has revealed that it will begin refunding qualified customers after recovering approximately $600 million in tariff-related payments.

The global e-commerce company revealed that the refund money was received during the second quarter after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against many of the tariffs, allowing businesses affected by the charges to reclaim funds previously paid.

According to Amazon, customers who were charged additional import fees on qualifying purchases will receive automatic repayments if the company can accurately match the tariff costs to their orders.

The company said it is reviewing affected transactions and will return the recovered funds to customers where there is a clear connection between the import charges and specific purchases.

The tariff dispute has been a major issue in U.S. trade policy, with businesses and consumers arguing that the additional costs contributed to higher prices on imported products.

Amazon’s decision to refund customers highlights the wider financial impact of the court ruling and the consequences of changing trade policies on companies, sellers and shoppers.

The company added that the repayment process will focus on ensuring that customers who were directly affected by the tariffs receive the money they are entitled to.
