Iwollo

The political atmosphere in Iwollo, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, came alive on Sunday as prominent leaders, traditional stakeholders and community representatives declared unwavering support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency House of Representatives election, Honourable Dr. FSA Uzor.

The endorsement took place during a solidarity and courtesy visit to Dr. Uzor’s country home, where members of the Iwollo Stakeholders described his emergence as the APC flagbearer as a victory for competence, loyalty and selfless service.

Leading the delegation, the Convener of Iwollo Stakeholders, Chief Sylvester Ogbuanu (Ozuome), said the gathering was organised to celebrate what he described as a defining moment for the entire community.

According to him, Dr. Uzor’s emergence was not merely a personal achievement but a source of pride for Iwollo.

“Today is a historic and joyful day for the people of Iwollo. We have come together in our numbers to celebrate and congratulate our son, Honourable Dr. FSA Uzor, on his well-deserved emergence as the APC candidate for the House of Representatives.

“He worked hard, remained focused and fought courageously to secure the party’s ticket. His victory is not only a personal achievement but a proud moment for the entire Iwollo community.”

Chief Ogbuanu described the APC candidate as a leader whose humility, education, discipline and commitment to public service distinguish him from others.

“As an elder who has followed this journey from the very beginning, I can confidently say that Dr. FSA Uzor possesses the qualities of a true leader. He is humble, educated, hardworking, disciplined and deeply committed to the welfare of the people.”

Calling for total unity ahead of the 2027 general election, Ogbuanu urged the people of the constituency to close ranks behind the APC candidate.

“Now that he has emerged victorious, it is our collective responsibility as a community to stand firmly behind him and ensure that he wins the forthcoming general election.

“I therefore call on the people of Iwollo, and indeed all the good people of the constituency, to rally behind Dr. FSA Uzor. Let us remain united and give him our unwavering support.”

He dismissed concerns over dissenting voices, expressing confidence that more people would eventually join the movement.

“Those who are not with us today will, in due course, join this collective movement. When they witness the overwhelming support and unity of our people, they too will recognise the need to be part of this journey.”

Also speaking, High Chief Elvis Chinjuba Aniebo (Onwa Gburugburu) said members of Iwollo Stakeholders were at Dr. Uzor’s residence to reaffirm their confidence in his leadership and publicly declare their commitment to his political project.

According to him, Dr. Uzor earned the APC ticket through years of dedication, loyalty and service to Enugu State.

“Your emergence did not come as a surprise to us. It is a recognition of your unalloyed support and loyalty to His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as well as your years of service, dedication to the development of our people and your contributions to governance in Enugu State.”

He assured the APC candidate that the support of Iwollo Stakeholders would extend beyond mere words.

“Our visit is not merely ceremonial. It is a demonstration of brotherhood and a pledge of support. Members of Iwollo Stakeholders will continue to stand with you morally, physically and practically as the political process unfolds.”

He further urged Dr. Uzor to remain committed to grassroots leadership.

“Leadership is about service, and the greatest leaders are those who listen to the voices of the people and dedicate themselves to improving their lives.”

Adding her voice, Chief Mrs. Josephine Onwumelu dismissed what she described as misinformation and attempts to tarnish Dr. Uzor’s image.

She said her personal findings showed that the APC candidate’s greatest “offence” was his modesty despite numerous contributions to community development.

“Despite all the misinformation and character assassination, my investigation revealed that the only mistake Dr. Uzor made was not blowing his own trumpet. He has done so much for the people of Iwollo and beyond.”

She described him as a competent leader with the experience required to represent the constituency effectively.

“No amount of shenanigans will derail this moving train because the destination is still far ahead. With Dr. Uzor, things will be better for our people. I urge the people of Iwollo to own this project.”

On behalf of all the Presidents-General of communities in Iwollo, Chief Emmanuel Ilochi, President-General of Iwollo Autonomous Community, declared that every community in the town had thrown its weight behind the APC candidate.

“The good works of Dr. Uzor are visible even to the blind. He is one of the finest exports of Iwollo, and his intellectual capacity is not in doubt. All the communities in Iwollo are solidly behind him.”

Responding, Dr. FSA Uzor expressed gratitude for what he described as an unprecedented demonstration of love and solidarity.

“What has happened here today is overwhelming, and I cannot thank the convener and every member of Iwollo Stakeholders enough for this show of solidarity unlike anything I have ever witnessed.”

He credited his political success to the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing the governor as the leader of the APC in Enugu State whose support had been invaluable.

“This journey would not have been possible without the leader of our party in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and he deserves every commendation.”

Dr. Uzor pledged to work tirelessly to deliver electoral victories for the APC across the constituency.

“We are going to work one hundred percent for the electoral victory of our governor in Iwollo and beyond.”

He said his record of service, rather than campaign promises, would remain the foundation of his political engagement.

“This is not the time for promises because we know where we are coming from. He who makes promises is a neophyte in the political landscape. Your records should speak for you.”

The APC House of Representatives candidate assured constituents that elective office would not create a barrier between him and the people.

“When elected, I will remain Dr. Uzor. I will be accessible and reachable. By the grace of God and with your support, you will receive more than your fair share of every opportunity that comes to our constituency.”

The visit ended with prayers for Dr. Uzor’s success in the 2027 general election as stakeholders pledged to mobilise massive grassroots support for his campaign across the Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency.
