The Managing Director of MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL), Dr. Ernest Mupwaya, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to prioritising employee welfare and professional development, describing its workforce as the organisation’s most valuable asset and the driving force behind its transformation agenda.
Dr. Mupwaya stated this on Monday while receiving the leadership of the Enugu State Branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) during a courtesy visit to the company’s headquarters, Power House, Enugu.
He emphasised that sustained investment in human capital remains critical to achieving excellence in Nigeria’s highly regulated electricity distribution industry, stressing that strong organisations are built on competent and motivated people.
“Our staff remain our most valuable asset. Having competent, motivated and adaptable employees, supported by effective human resource leadership and professional institutions such as CIPM, is critical to driving organisational transformation and contributing to national development,” he said.
The MainPower boss noted that effective leadership, a skilled workforce, a positive organisational culture and continuous talent development are indispensable to achieving long-term corporate success.
He added that MainPower would continue to uphold the values of professionalism, integrity, innovation and customer-focused service delivery as it strengthens its position in the nation’s electricity distribution sector.
Welcoming the collaboration with the professional body, Dr. Mupwaya commended CIPM for its sustained role in promoting excellence and ethical standards in human resource management across Nigeria.
He also expressed the company’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the Institute in key areas, including leadership development, workforce capacity building, succession planning and employee engagement.
Earlier, the Chairman of the CIPM Enugu State Branch, Mr. Francis Uka, who led the delegation alongside a member of the Institute’s Governing Council, Mr. Christian Onwumeremadu, said the visit was aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting the exchange of ideas on modern human resource management practices.
According to him, the engagement forms part of the Institute’s efforts to foster stronger relationships with organisations while encouraging the adoption of global best practices in people management.
During the visit, the delegation also interacted with MainPower employees, particularly those in administration and operations, where they highlighted the importance of professional human resource management and encouraged eligible staff to join the Institute to benefit from its professional development programmes.
