The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved a major redeployment of Commissioners of Police (CPs), posting new police chiefs to eight state commands and several strategic formations nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and deepen ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
The deployment, announced on Thursday in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, followed the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
According to the statement, the new Commissioners of Police assigned to state commands are Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa) and Samuel Erale (Delta).
Beyond the state commands, the IGP also approved fresh postings to key departments and specialised units, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), the Police Academy, Kano, and the Police Staff College, Jos.
The statement listed the new deployments as follows:
- CP Yemi John Oyeniyi – CP, Intelligence & Training, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja.
- CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike – CP, INTERPOL, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja.
- CP Aina Adesola – CP, Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), Force Headquarters, Abuja.
- CP Uduak Ita Otu – CP, Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT), FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.
- CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf – CP, General Investigation, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja.
- CP Taiwo A. Adedeji – CP, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Force Headquarters, Abuja.
- CP Ajayi Oluyemi – CP, Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja.
- CP Bolanle Aremu – CP, Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Force Headquarters, Abuja.
- CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman – CP, Inspectorate, Department of Training and Development (DTD), Force Headquarters.
- CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed – Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College (PSC), Jos.
- CP Rita Oyintare Oki – CP, Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos.
- CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura – CP, Administration, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Kaduna.
The reshuffle also affected several other senior officers. CP Nelson Nwamana was posted to the Police Academy, Kano, while CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo was redeployed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Gombe.
Charging the newly posted Commissioners of Police, the Inspector-General urged them to deploy their experience and expertise toward improving policing in their respective commands and formations.
According to the statement, the IGP tasked the officers with strengthening intelligence-led policing, enhancing operational effectiveness, promoting professionalism and fostering stronger relationships with communities.
“He urged them to remain steadfast in safeguarding lives and property while upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability, and service delivery,” the statement said.
The police said the latest redeployment forms part of ongoing institutional reforms aimed at boosting operational capacity, strengthening internal efficiency and improving service delivery across the country.
