A 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his biological father and dumping his body in a well in Sangere, Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was taken into custody after residents alerted the police to the incident, prompting officers to launch an investigation.
According to preliminary findings by the police, Sinamai allegedly murdered his father before disposing of the body in a well within the community.
The victim’s remains have since been recovered and deposited in a mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted as part of ongoing investigations.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabiru Hassan, described the alleged killing as deeply disturbing and directed detectives to carry out a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
“A detailed investigation should be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing and ensure that justice is served,” the police commissioner said.
Hassan also urged members of the public to embrace peaceful and lawful means of resolving family disputes instead of resorting to violence.
“People should always resolve family disagreements through peaceful and lawful means rather than taking the law into their own hands,” he added.
The police said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
