The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, following court judgments directing their reinstatement.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
The affected constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II in Delta State, and Yagba West II in Kogi State.
According to Haruna, political parties have been given August 21 to 25, 2026 to conduct primaries for candidates seeking to contest the restored seats.
He said the exercise would run concurrently with the period already approved for political parties to conduct primaries for candidates participating in forthcoming legislative by-elections.
INEC also announced that elections into the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi State, Udu State Constituency in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State would hold on September 19, 2026.
The Commission said the timelines and activities contained in its previously published revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections would also apply to the four restored constituencies.
INEC urged political parties interested in contesting the seats to submit notices of their primaries to the Commission ahead of the scheduled dates.
The electoral body said the restoration was carried out in compliance with the relevant court judgments and would provide eligible political parties with the opportunity to participate in the electoral process for the affected constituencies.
