Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the just-concluded governorship election, urging him to use his second term to deepen people-centred governance and sustain development across the state.

Otti, in a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, August 16, 2026, described Adeleke as his brother and commended the people of Osun State for what he called the peaceful conduct of the election.

The Abia governor said the orderly participation of voters before, during and after the election, despite some observed irregularities, demonstrated the maturity of Nigeria’s democracy and citizens’ commitment to peaceful coexistence.

“I heartily congratulate my brother, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and the good people of Osun State on the peaceful and successful conduct of the just concluded Governorship Election in the State,” Otti said.

He added that the conduct of the election represented an important step in strengthening democratic governance and ensuring that citizens’ voices remain central to the choice of political leaders.

“The orderly manner in which Osun people came out to exercise their franchise, and the peaceful conduct before, during and after the election, in spite of some observed irregularities, is a testament to the maturity of our democracy and the commitment of citizens to peaceful coexistence,” he said.

Otti also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other stakeholders involved in the election for their respective roles.

“I commend the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for its professionalism, the security agencies for ensuring a safe environment, and all stakeholders who worked to make the process credible and transparent,” the governor said.

According to him, the successful conclusion of the election would further reinforce democratic governance and the authority of voters to determine who leads them.

“This successful exercise further strengthens democratic governance in our country and reinforces the voice of the people in choosing their leaders,” he stated.

Otti urged Adeleke to remain focused on improving the welfare of Osun residents as he begins his second tenure.

“As you start your second tenure in office, I encourage you, to remain focused on delivering people-centered governance that improves the lives of Osun people, expands opportunities, and sustains peace and development across the State,” he said.

The Abia governor also expressed solidarity with Adeleke and the people of Osun State, describing the relationship as one founded on a shared commitment to stronger institutions and the delivery of democratic dividends.

“As an Abia grandson, we stand with you and your state in the shared vision of building stronger institutions and delivering the dividends of democracy to our people,” Otti said.

He prayed for divine wisdom, good health and strength for Adeleke as he begins another term in office.

“I pray that God grants you wisdom, good health, and the strength to continue to serve Osun State and her people with distinction,” he added.
