The naira strengthened further against the United States dollar on Monday, gaining N8.07 at the official foreign exchange market to close at N1,349.53 per dollar.
Data published on the official website of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the local currency appreciated from the N1,357.60/$ rate recorded at the close of trading on Friday.
The latest gain represents a 0.6 per cent appreciation against the dollar.
Monday’s performance also extended the naira’s recent positive run at the official foreign exchange market, with the currency recording gains for the fourth consecutive trading day following its sustained appreciation in the previous week.
The continued strengthening of the naira signals further improvement in the local currency’s performance at the official market, as it maintains its recent upward trajectory against the dollar.
