The Deputy Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, and Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area, Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has expressed confidence that Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah has the political capacity and grassroots reach to deliver the South-East for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Ukwueze made the assertion on Sunday, August 23, 2026, while speaking with newsmen in Enugu on President Tinubu’s decision to appoint Governor Mbah as his campaign coordinator for the South-East.
He described the appointment as an indication of the confidence the President has in Mbah’s leadership and political reach across the region, saying the governor’s record in governance and grassroots engagement positions him to effectively lead the campaign.
According to Ukwueze, Mbah has distinguished himself by translating political vision into tangible development since assuming office, thereby restoring public confidence in the ability of government to deliver meaningful results.
He cited the governor’s interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, economic development and human capital development as evidence of his capacity to lead a broad-based political mobilisation.
Ukwueze said Mbah’s strong relationship with communities and stakeholders across Enugu and the wider South-East had earned him considerable respect beyond partisan political structures.
He described the governor as a leader with the courage, exposure and administrative experience required to coordinate the President’s campaign across the region.

According to him, Mbah understands the aspirations of the people and has the political reach to engage stakeholders across political structures, traditional institutions, community leadership and the electorate.
The council chairman further said Tinubu’s choice of Mbah reflected the governor’s growing political influence and ability to build bridges among diverse interests.
He also commended Mbah for maintaining what he described as a development-driven administration while paying attention to the needs and welfare of ordinary citizens.
Ukwueze expressed confidence that Mbah’s appointment would significantly strengthen Tinubu’s political presence in the South-East, describing the Enugu governor as a “trusted political asset” whose organisational ability, popularity and record of performance could contribute substantially to the President’s campaign.
He consequently urged political stakeholders across the South-East to support Mbah in his new assignment, arguing that his leadership provides the region with an opportunity for constructive engagement with the Federal Government.
Ukwueze maintained that Mbah’s emergence at the head of the South-East campaign structure would produce a coordinated and grassroots-driven mobilisation for the President.
He said, with Mbah leading the campaign, “President Tinubu can expect a well coordinated, energetic and people centred mobilisation capable of delivering a decisive electoral advantage in the region.”
