Chief Peter Amadiasonwu, Ezeudene Espana, has called for restraint, dialogue and strict adherence to the constitution of Affa Etiti Ancient Kingdom amid the ongoing leadership tussle over the position of President-General.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 28, 2026, Amadiasonwu appealed to all parties and stakeholders in the dispute to respect constituted authority and allow the kingdom’s constitution to guide the resolution of the leadership question.
He said the constitution represented the collective agreement and established framework of the people and should therefore be respected irrespective of personal interests, affiliations or preferred outcomes.
Amadiasonwu urged the parties involved to avoid actions or processes capable of escalating tensions, widening divisions or threatening the unity and peaceful coexistence of the communities that make up Affa Etiti Ancient Kingdom.
According to him, lasting peace can only be achieved when stakeholders submit to the rule of law and follow the legitimate processes established by the community.
The traditional leader, however, warned that any attempt to disregard the constitutional provisions of the kingdom would be challenged through the courts.
He stressed that actions taken in violation of the kingdom’s constitution or lawful directives of constituted authority might have to be addressed through appropriate legal channels.
Amadiasonwu clarified that the warning was not intended to threaten or intimidate any individual or group, but to encourage a peaceful, orderly and lawful resolution of the dispute.
He consequently called on all concerned parties to “sheath their swords”, avoid inflammatory statements and actions, and return to dialogue within the framework provided by the constitution.
“Affa Etiti belongs to all of us. No individual interest is greater than the peace, unity and constitutional order of our kingdom. Let us respect constituted authority, obey our constitution and resolve our differences through lawful and peaceful means.”
He expressed confidence that the dispute could be resolved without further division or rancour if stakeholders approached the matter with maturity, mutual respect and commitment to the established constitutional process.
Amadiasonwu further stressed that preserving the unity and dignity of Affa Etiti Ancient Kingdom remained a collective responsibility of its sons and daughters.
He urged stakeholders to place the interest of the kingdom above individual ambitions and allow the constitution to provide the framework for resolving the leadership crisis.
“Let the constitution guide the process, let constituted authority be respected, and let peace remain the ultimate objective,” he added.
