The 2027 political contest in Enugu is gathering momentum as the Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Nnamani Campaign Organisation challenged former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, to a public debate ahead of the elections.
The campaign organisation urged Nnaji, the factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Party, PDP, to choose a convenient date, time and venue for the proposed engagement.
Nnamani Campaign Organisation, however, maintained that Nnaji’s immediate political task should be the Nkanu West State Constituency election, where it said he should first demonstrate his acceptance among the electorate before aspiring to the governorship of Enugu State.
The organisation consequently challenged Nnaji to face Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Nnamani; the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Nkanu West State Constituency in a debate focused on Nkanu West, its development needs and the capacity of both politicians to represent the constituency.
“We challenge Uche Nnaji to choose the date, time and venue. Let him come and debate with Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Nnamani. Before anyone begins dreaming about the Lion Building, let them first win the Nkanu West State Constituency seat,” the organisation said.
The campaign organisation also referred to the controversy surrounding Nnaji’s tenure as Minister of Science and Technology, particularly allegations concerning the authenticity of his academic credentials, and challenged him to subject his record and competence to public scrutiny.
It said the proposed debate would give both politicians an opportunity to present their records, ideas and plans for Nkanu West before the electorate.
The Nnamani Campaign Organisation expressed confidence in its candidate and said it remained ready to engage political opponents on the basis of ideas, records, competence and electoral acceptance.
