Enugu State is set for a major youth-focused engagement as the maiden edition of Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 holds on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu.
The programme, convened by the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Peter Ogbonna Eze, is being held under the theme, “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths Through the Federal Character Commission.”
With just one week to the event, anticipation is building among young people across the state, particularly graduates, students, entrepreneurs, job seekers and professionals looking for credible pathways to employment, funding, skills development and career advancement.
Eze said the initiative was designed to address a major challenge confronting young Nigerians: the difficulty of identifying and accessing legitimate opportunities despite possessing the qualifications and determination to succeed.
“Our objective is to help young people understand where legitimate opportunities exist, how to identify them, how to apply, what is required, and how to position themselves for success,” Eze said.
According to him, the initiative will bridge the information gap by exposing participants to opportunities available at both national and international levels while providing practical guidance on how to pursue them.
The event is expected to draw participants from the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State and will focus on opportunities spanning employment, scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, government programmes, private-sector initiatives, digital careers, entrepreneurship, career development and leadership.
Eze urged Enugu youths to take advantage of the platform, stressing that access to the right information, coupled with preparation and determination, could significantly improve their chances of success.
He also challenged young people to abandon passive waiting and instead develop the skills and confidence required to identify, pursue and maximise available opportunities.
The youth engagement comes amid growing calls for more practical interventions that connect young Nigerians directly with employment, entrepreneurship and career opportunities.
Unlike conventional empowerment programmes often centred on speeches and promises, the organisers say Peter Eze Youth Connect is designed around access, information, practical guidance and action.
As the countdown enters its final week, the maiden edition is expected to open a fresh conversation on youth development in Enugu, with emphasis on helping young people move beyond simply hearing about opportunities to understanding how to access and maximise them.
